I recently attended a leadership conference where the speaker was discussing the importance of clarity versus Integrity. He said people value integrity but follow clarity. He went on to say that people with clarity have the greatest power of influence.
A very popular business man/politician ran an election campaign having a vision only. This politician had absolutely no factual data, plan or content to substantiate any of his beliefs or promises. However, this person was able to get over ten million people to buy into his vision. His followers were not concerned about the how but rather the what. They believed in this politician’s vision and possessed a clear mental picture of what that vision looked like.
Having a clear vision is just as important in our personal life. My girlfriend and I always joked about starting with a plan. In fact, we need to have a clear vision first, and the plan will follow. Many times, we get frustrated when things in our life aren’t moving as fast or going as we had hoped. I suggest you look at your situation and ask yourself: have I established clarity in my vision or expectation?
Through our words, God can make dreams come true. Our words have power and are a driving force in making our vision a reality. Speaking and sharing our vision with others causes people and situations to start coming together. This in turn allows our vision to manifest.
Finally, we must hold onto our vision and trust that God will see it through. James 1:6-8 says “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
In Proverbs 16:1-9, God assures us that He will establish our steps. He will send the right people who can influence our vision, open doors for us and create paths that were never visible to us before.
- Create a clear vision of something you want for yourself. Don’t focus on the how, but the what.
- Establish a clear picture in your mind of what it looks like.
- Ask God to establish your steps and thank Him in advance for answering your prayer.
- Affirm your vision by speaking it aloud.
- Now sit back, pray and watch God do what only He can do.
